It was 2002. Artist Alan Bunao Jr. was commissioned to paint a collection of murals for the Cloud 9 Smoke Shop in LA's Atwater neighborhood. What began as a freelance painting job, soon turned into Alan's realization of his desire to create his very own line of unique, urban clothing. The guys at Cloud 9 kindly gave him a small space in their shop to sell his original pieces, and that soon developed into a business partnership. Not long after joining forces, Alan's murals were featured in 'The Beat Magazine', and his dreams of being in the fashion industry were just starting to come together.
After spending a year at Cloud 9, Alan ventured off on his own and opened up his own retail/gallery space, Euphoria. The store was conveniently located next door to LA's famous record store, Fat Beats on Melrose. This prime location brought in all types of different musicians and artists, such as Common, Warren G, Redman, Wu-Tang, Erykah Badu, etc. Here he was able to showcase various events ranging from photo shoots to live bands, gallery openings to fashion shows. He eventually expanded Euphoria into a larger space, and changed the name from Euphoria to Cloud City, where graffiti artist Mear One was hired to create one-of a-kind murals for the interior of the store. Two years later, Alan made the decision to close down Cloud City, and he began to focus more on the creation of the JRevolution brand.
